Abstract: 1H and 13C chemical shifts of tert-butyl phenol compounds were determined by NMR. 13C-1H one bond and long-range coupling constants (nJCOH). 13C-1H gcminal coupling constants over the C-OH chain (2JCOH) and 13C-31P coupling constants (nJCP) in It tert-butyl phenol compounds were obtained.
The coupling constants between aromatic hydrogen and aromatic carbon and the coupling constants between aromatic hydrogen (carbon) and aliphatic carbon (hydrogen) directly attached to aromatic are discussed. Induced and stcric effects on the coupling constants are also discussed.
