Abstract: Taking n-C24H50, n-C12H26, squalane, isooctane and 1-hexene as model compounds of low density polyethylene (LDPE), we have detected and identified photolysis products of bensophenone (BP) during the photoinitiated crosslinking of these model compounds for the first time by NMR spectroscopic method. The results show that main product of BP photoreduction is benzopinacol, which provides new experimental evidence for elucidating the mechanism of the photoinitiated crosslinking of LDPE.
